Dubbed as an "art feast," the second International Art Biennial will be held from Sept. 20 to Oct. 20, organizers announced Sunday.

Themed "Contemporary Art with Humanistic Concerns," the art exhibition, which is scheduled to be held once every two years, has put its eyes on human social life and the public this time.

"We hope the works we chose can make contemporary art more accessible to the general public in China, which has already made notable achievements to integrate itself to the global village in economic development," said Liu.

"What's more, we also want to express the pursuit for world peace and promote the development of humankind as well as the harmony between the human beings and nature," he said.

Last but not the least, "we also want to show visitors the glamour of international easel art and promote the multicultural development of the world," said Liu.

The art exhibition is sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Beijing municipal government and theChinese Artists Association.

The first one-month Beijing International Art Biennial, held in2003, showed a total of 577 peaces of works from 45 countries, anddrew more than 600,000 visitors, according to the organizers.
